Summer pain! Where is it coming from?  There can be many causes of pain but here is a list of causes that you might not have thought of:

Air Conditioning

People do report fatigue and muscle pain if they have been in a air condition room for a long period. It’s because the body is unable to replenish the heat as quickly as it is lost to the air conditioner. People with joint problems such as arthritis feel the pain of dehydrated air even more.

Pain From Dehydration

About 60% of the adult human body is made up of water. When that water runs low, your body lets you know. Many times this will come in the form of pain. But many people don’t make the connection that the pain is being caused by a form of dehydration. Because water and the water in our cells play such a critical role in our body’s effective functioning, it is no surprise that nearly every organ in our bodies needs to be properly hydrated to function properly.

Atmospheric Pressure and Temperature

Can you predict your joint pain level based on the local weather? A study from Tufts University in 2007 found that every 10-degree drop in temperature corresponded with an incremental increase in arthritis pain. In addition, relatively low barometric pressure, low temperatures and precipitation can increase pain.
It is well established that high pressure is generally associated with nice weather, while low pressure is generally associated with cloudy, rainy, or snowy weather approaching. Low pressure = pain.

French Fried Potatoes

There are many reports of all manner of effects on the nervous system from consuming potatoes, especially depression, anxiety, migraine or feeling confused and lethargic. Some children had gross misbehaviour, dyslexia, and learning difficulties, as well as pain, which disappeared when potato was avoided. Other night shade vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers and chilies had similar effects in the research.

So What Do You Do? Spinal Health Protects You

Can you see why, as a chiropractor, I am not concerned with the pain you are feeling but with the health of your spine?
Pain comes in so many odd shapes and sizes that chasing relief from pain without finding the cause is worthless.
Alternatively, people who train their spine through corrective chiropractic care have a healthy nervous system which protects from the vulnerability to pain and all its causes.
The more your spine improves the more protection you gain.
